My name is Robin VanGilder, I'm a freelance web designer, developer, and writer.
I've been working on changing careers for the past couple of years, and learning a lot of new skills. I live and work in Seattle, Washington. My interest lies mostly in design, as well as UI/UX work.

This website serves as a place to gather together all my work for a portfolio, and as a way of showing off what I can do as a web designer. I created the whole thing from scratch, using Sass, jQuery, and webpack to bundle it all together.
This includes all the art and filtered photos you'll see on the different pages. They were made using Pixatool from photos I took myself. The only thing not my own is the avatar used on some pages, which is taken from the anime Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Aesthetically, I was going for kind of a retro pixel-y look inspired by PC-98 games. Specifically, I must credit the twitter account PC-98 Bot with helping me gather reference material. I've never actually played a PC-98 game, mind you, I just like how they look. In order to achieve this look, I used a limited palette of 16 colors, the original limitation of the PC-98.
